BlackLivesMatter Protest in NYC
- New York City 04/30/2015 by Linda Perry Barr (WBAI News)

At a Black Lives Matter rally in Union Square Wednesday night in solidarity with protesters in Baltimore, feelings were pretty raw.

Young black women spoke out. Sabat Jordan with the Black Youth Project says she is exhausted by what she hears about Baltimore. “I’m tired of hearing the same story over and over, I’m tired of feeling the same pain,” she told a group of supportive onlookers. “I’m tired of looking at people who look like they could be my brother or my boyfriend or my uncle or my son. I’m exhausted of it."

Thousands hit the streets in several cities throughout the country. More than 140 people were arrested in NYC. NYPD Police didn't show the restraint they had in past protests.

A bail fund was established to help those who were arrested on New York City streets.  It’s sponsored by the non-profit Alliance for Global Justice, or more information go to [email protected]. The fund works in cooperation with the National Lawyers Guild.

The National Lawyers Guild says if you've been arrested during a demonstration and need help, please call the NLG-NYC Hotline at 212-679-6018.
